Mom runners?

Hi Everyone,

I have a daughter who is almost two years old, and I often go running (while pushing her in the stroller)  in Golden Gate Park.   I am wondering if anyone else out there is looking for a running partner.  I run about 3 miles at a time, but can go longer or shorter.  My pace is pretty slow (10 min miles? not sure) but I can pick it up if motivated.  Anyone want to join me, or know of any good running groups for moms?????

Fox 17 Interview: Healthy Eating During Pregnancy

Last week I was interviewed http://www.fox17online.com/videobeta/watch/?watch=3851c11f-c05e-421c-97de-bb57781d5e97&src=fronton the Fox 17 Morning News in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I’d like to take my neext coup of blog posts to address the things we talked about. The newscaster and I initially discussed how diet and exercise should be approached during pregnancy. There are also lots of blogs http://www.blogcatalog.com/topic/healthy+pregnancy+diet/ that you can participate in related to healthy eating during pregnancy.

Below is an interesting article from Associated Content about what to look for.

How to Choose Your Legally Unlicensed Gym Child Care

Licensing for Child Care varies among states. Even if your state requires a license to run a child care, this does not mean that it licenses gym drop-off child care. Check with your local child care licensing department to inquire about the laws.

For example, all child care centers need to be licensed in Massachusetts whether they are large facilities or even just a mom taking care of only one child (that is unrelated to her) in her home on a regular basis; all child care except for care in a health club. I am not referring to day care that happens to be in a gym or health club or fitness club such as the YMCA but to childcare offered for parents who are working out at the gym and will be leaving their children for no longer than 2 hours.

Exercise Guidelines During Pregnancy

* If you are just starting an exercise program as a way of improving your health during your pregnancy, you should start very slowly and be careful not to over exert yourself.

* Listen to your body. Your body will naturally give you signals that it is time to reduce the level of exercise you perform.

* Never exercise to the point of exhaustion or breathlessness. This is a sign that your baby and your body cannot get the oxygen supply it needs.

* Wear comfortable exercise footwear that gives strong ankle and arch support.
